The teen accused of fatally stabbing a Corrections Officer in Hoquiam last weekend has been identified. The Aberdeen Daily World identifies the teen as Teddy Joseph McKay Bryan, 16 of Aberdeen. Bryan is charged as an adult with second-degree murder in connection to the stabbing death of Jon Favro, 22 of Aberdeen.
The Shelton City Commission has awarded the construction contract for the rehabilitation of “K” Street to the second lowest bidder. According to City Engineer Mike Michael, NOVA Contracting was determined to be the lowest responsive bidder due to some errors in the bidding documents from the lowest bidder, which was a local company, Kamin Excavating.
A 31-year-old Allyn man was killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle collision south of Union. According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred about 2:10 AM, 5.5 miles south of Union on McReavy Road where the man, identified as Juan Carlos Espinoza Alcazar, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 pickup northbound.
The average price of a gallon of gas in Washington is still dropping. Locally though, some prices have risen. According to GasBuddy.com, the average price of gas in the State is $3.54 a gallon. That’s down three cents in a week; is 43.5 cents less than a month ago; and nearly 25 cents less than a year ago. The State average is 12 cents higher than the National average. The AAA auto club reports the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Washington is $3.59.
A 20-year-old man stabbed to death in Hoquiam early Saturday worked at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton. The man, identified as John Favro, 20 of Aberdeen, was pronounced dead after officers discovered him lying in a yard about two blocks from his crashed car. He had been stabbed and a knife was found near the car.
