Voters in Mason County Fire District No. 2 will be asked to renew a six-year Emergency Medical Services Levy in April. According to Fire Chief Beau Bakken, this EMS Levy would replace the current levy that expires at the end of this year and the District is asking voters to continue that $600,000 annual levy.
The Legislature on Thursday passed and sent the governor a bill that will give Washingtonians an alternative to traditional tire chains when it comes to improving traction in winter snow. The alternative is called tire socks, a tire traction device that originated in Scandinavia and is now used in 35 countries. The socks slide over the surface of the tires and grip the roadway, allowing a safer drive on slippery roads.
State lawmakers on Wednesday spoke in tribute to slain Washington State Patrol Trooper Tony Radulescu. Both the Senate and the House passed resolutions to honor Radulescu who was shot Feb. 23 near Gorst by a driver who later took his own life. Six people have been charged with rendering criminal assistance.
