Four of the five people involved in a home invasion robbery west of Belfair last November have been sentenced. The robbery occurred November 11, 2011 in the 300 block of Olympic View Drive, which is about two miles west of Belfair. The suspects forced their way into the victims’ home, tied up them up, and stole money, jewelry, medications and cash.
A Mason County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled a woman from a burning mobile home near Collins Lake Wednesday morning. Mason County Fire District 2 Chief Beau Bakken reports that the Sheriff’s Office was called to the 200 block of NE Collins Lake Drive about 5 AM to check on the welfare of a person there while the Fire Department responded to a suicide attempt at the same address.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating Tuesday morning’s fatal crash on Mikkelsen Road as a Vehicular Homicide. More details on the crash were released Wednesday afternoon. A news release says that emergency crews responded to the scene about a quarter mile from Mason Lake Road, four minutes after midnight and found a 2003 Mercedes Benz with four occupants (three men and a woman) had left the roadway and struck a tree on the passenger side.
Former NBA star Chris Herren appeared at the Skookum Creek Event Center Tuesday night. Herren, who was one of the few to grow up in New England and play for the Boston Celtics, had a well publicized drug and alcohol problem throughout his career and now travels the nation talking about his addiction.
