The State Department of Transportation has released next week’s schedule for road work on State Highways. During the week of January 30, 2012 through February 3, 2012, crews will be working on U.S. Highway 101 from Shelton to Brinnon and on Highway 8 from Olympia to Elma.
A flood watch remains in effect for the Skokomish River through late Sunday night. The National Weather Service says 1.5 to 3.5 inches of rain is expected to fall on the south slopes of the Olympics. 
Officials from the Mark E. Reed Scholarship Program’s Washington board announced recently that eight $3000 scholarships will be awarded to high school and under-graduate college students in 2012. 
The Shelton girls’ bowling team placed 3rd in the Class 4A West Central District 3 Bowling Tournament Saturday.
