The Shelton boys’ soccer team won their fourth game in a row Saturday shutting out Timberline three-nil (3 to 0). The Highclimber improved to 5-5-and-2 on the season, 4-4-and-2 in the South Sound Conference. The win also moves Shelton into fourth place in the standings with four games remaining in the regular season. The top six teams qualify for the District Tournament. The ‘Climbers host Gig Harbor Tuesday.
At the Chehalis Activator Invitational, Shelton boys’ track and field team placed 6th in the Classic and 20th in the Invitational. The Lady Highclimbers were 13th in the Classic. Shelton was led by McKenzie Salazar-Fox who won the shot put and Cody Simon who took the pole vault. Cody Hall placed 2nd in the javelin.Gage Peterson was 3rd in the 100 meters. And William Johnson finished 3rd in the 800 meters and the 1600 meters. The Highclimbers host the 57th Shelton Invitational next Saturday, April 29th. More than 50 teams are expected to compete.
Also at the Chehalis Activator Invitational, the Mary M. Knight girls’ track and field team finished 10th in the Classic and the boys from Matlock were 19th. The Owls’ Kaylee Sowle took top honors in three events, winning the 100 meters, the high jump and the long jump. Ian Frost placed 2nd in the discus.
The MMK boys also competed in the NIKE Easton Invitational at Snohomish High School where the Owls finished 26th among the 45 teams behind Ian Frost who won the hammer throw.
Mary M. Knight has a Pacific League meet at North Beach on Thursday before competing in the Shelton Invitational next Saturday.
The Shelton boys’ soccer team won their third South Sound Conference game in a row Friday on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC as the Highclimbers knocked off North Thurston 3 to 1.
Jose Flores scored Shelton’s first two goals in the first half (in the 21st minute and in the 27th minute). Alex Lopez added to the Highclimbers lead in the second half before the Tommy Johnson got the Rams on the board. Shelton improved to 4-5-and-2 on the season, 3-4-and-2 in SSC play. After the first day of the Chehalis Activators Invitational, Mary M. Knight’s Kaylee Sowle was first in the prelims of the 100 meters while Shelton’s Gage Peterson finished 4th in the prelims of the 100 meters and Raymundo Mendoza was 5th in the prelims for the 110-meter hurdles. Watch the Shelton Spring Sports Game of the Week: the Shelton boys’ soccer team hosts North Thurston in South Sound Conference action. Kick off is 7 PM. Dedrick Allan will call the game which will also be broadcast on Hood Canal Communications’ Local Channel.
It took an extra inning but the Shelton baseball team lost at Central Kitsap 6 to 5 in a back and forth game. The Cougars scored two runs in the first inning. The Highclimbers responded in the second with three runs. CK took back the lead with two runs in the fourth. Shelton came back in the sixth with two more runs making it 5 to 4. Central Kitsap forced extra innings by tieing the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh and won it with a run in the eighth. The Highclimbers were led in the loss by Taylor Toney who went 2 for 4 at the plate with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored. Caleb Hitsman was 1 for 4 and batted in two runs. Shelton is now 3-and-11 on the season, 2-and-7 in the South Sound Conference. They host Peninsula Monday.
The Shelton track and field teams topped North Thurston Thursday. The Highclimber boys won 78 to 48 while the ladies edged the Rams 67 to 65.

Blethany Howe was 1st in the 100-meter hurdles and 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles.

Josiah Salzar-Fox finished 1st in the 400 meters.
William Johnson was 1st in the 800 meters and the 1600 meters.
Ethan Bursch won the 3200 meters.
Joshua Dohring placed 1st in the shot put and the discus.
Kaitlyn Paller took the shot put and the javelin, and was 2nd in the discus.
McKenzie Salazar-Fox won the discus and was 2nd in the shot put.

The North Mason track and field teams lost to North Kitsap and Kingston Wednesday. The team scores show the Lady Bulldogs lost to the Vikings 127 to 17 and to the Buccaneers 82 to 49. The boys from Belfair fell to NK 135 to 10 and to Kingston 71 to 69.

Lily Campbell won the discus, took the javelin, and placed 2nd in the shot put.
Ryan Grogan was 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles and 3rd in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Mary M. Knight track and field teams competed in the Naselle Comet Invitational Tuesday with Kaylee Sowle leading the Lady Owls to 5th place and Ian Frost, Austin Fries and Zack Thompson helping the boys from Matlock finish in a tie for 4th. Kaylee Sowle won four events: the 100 meters, the high jump, the long jump and the triple jump. Ian Frost took the discus, was 2nd in the javelin and finished 2nd in the shot put. Austin Fries finished 3rd in the 100 meters and the 200 meters. Zack Thompson placed 3rd in the high jump.
MMK’s next meet is the Chehalis Activators Invitational Friday and Saturday.
The Shelton softball team slipped by Central Kitsap 13 to 12 Monday. This is the second time this season the Lady Highclimbers have beaten the Lady Cougars and have a two-game win streak. Shelton doesn’t have another game scheduled until next Monday at Capital.
The Shelton softball team ended a three-game skid Saturday with a 5 to 4 non-league win over Centralia. The Highclimbers evened their record at 6-and-6. They return to South Sound Conference play Monday when they travel to Central Kitsap.
The North Mason track and field teams competed in the Terrace Invite at Edmonds Woodway High School on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs placed 14th in the teams scoring while the boys from Belfair were 21st. The North Mason girls were led by Lily Campbell who won the javelin and placed 3rd in the discus. The Bulldog boys’ top placer was Braden Kemmer who finished 4th in the long jump. North Mason takes on North Kitsap, Klahowya at Kingston High School.
The Shelton boys’ track and field team finished 2nd at the Mountain Invite at Yelm High School Friday behind Central Kitsap. The team scores: the Cougars 156.4, the Highclimbers 93. The Shelton girls were 7th in the team standings.
The North Mason track & field teams participated in a three team Olympic League meet at Silverdale Stadium Thursday. The Bulldog boys beat Port Angeles 91 to 50 but lost to Klahowya 73 to 67. The girls from Belfair lost to the Lady Roughriders 121 to 28 and lost to the Lady Eagles 105 to 39.
