High School Sports Results from 5/7/18

NM Softball Wins & Track Results; SHS Softball Falls

The North Mason fast pitch softball team pounded Bremerton Monday 17 to 7. The Lady scored in each inning as they swept the Knight in two games this season. The girls from Belfair were led by Rebekah Fredrickson who went 2 for 4 at the plate with a home run, three RBI and scored two runs. Kaylee Huffman was 2 for 4 with a triple, three RBI and scored two runs. Corlies Newman went 3 for 5 with a double, a triple, batted in two runs and scored three runs. Skylar Drumm went 2 for 4 with two doubles, two RBI and scored three runs. Natalie Mathews was 2 for 5 with a double, two RBI and scored a run. And Jordin Sullivan went 3 for 5 with an RBI and scored three runs. North Mason improved to 6-and-12 on the season, 4-and-7 in the Olympic League. They wrap up the regular season at Olympic Wednesday.

The Shelton fast pitch softball team wrapped up the regular season Monday with a 3 to 1 loss at Peninsula. The Lady Highclimbers’ only run was the fourth inning on a solo home run by Kamryn Hyland.

SHS Softball Wins & Track Results

The Shelton fast pitch softball team pulled away from Timberline in the fifth inning Friday as the Lady Highclimbers beat Blazers 6 to 2 on senior recognition day. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC broadcast the game.

Shelton got things started in the second inning when Hailee Stots batted in Alex Walters on a sacrifice ground ball.

High School Sports Results from 5/2/18

SHS Track Results, Softball Shut Out

At the South Sound Froshowcase Wednesday, the Shelton girls’ track and field team finished 2nd in the team scoring while the Highclimber boys were 5th.

Top Shelton Freshman:
Victoria Silverman won the girls’ 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.
Jazlind Warren took the girls’ shot put.
Kyle McGregor won the boys’ shot put and discus.
Ivory Alexander took the boys’ pole vault.
The relay team of Victoria Silverman, Kathy Shumate, Emma Miller and Kamdan Nicklaus won the girls’ 4 x 100.
The relay team of Aiden Gregg, Victoria Silverman, Emma Miller and Kamdan Nicklaus took the girls’ 4 x 400.
Aiden Gregg took 2nd in the girls’ 1600 meters.
Sebastian Engels placed 3rd in the boys’ shot put and the discus.
Kamdan Nicklaus was 3rd in the girls’ high jump.

Friday, the Shelton track teams will participate in the 54th Shaner Invitational at Tumwater District Stadium.

The Shelton fast pitch softball team was shut out at South Sound Conference leading Yelm Wedensday 7 to 0.

High School Sports Results from 5/1/18

SHS Golf Split, Soccer Ties; NM Boys Golf take 2nd, Tennis Falls;

The Shelton boys’ golf team beat North Thurston Tuesday 69 to 28. The Highclimbers were led by Tim Nail who shot an even par 36 at Alderbrook Golf Club. On the girls’ side, the Rams slipped by Shelton 69 to 66.

The Shelton boys’ soccer team played Peninsula to a 3-3 tie Tuesday to wrap up the regular season. The Highclimbers finish fifth in the South Sound Conference at 5-6-and-3, 5-7-and-4 overall. They are headed to the West Central / Southwest District Tournament next Wednesday, May 9th and play the number four team from the Greater St. Helen’s League at 6 PM. That loser out game will be played at Ingersoll Stadium in Olympia.

The North Mason boys’ golf team took 2nd at the Olympic Championship Tuesday.

High School Sports Results from 4/30/18

SHS Baseball Win SSC Finale, Softball Falls; NM Softball Blasts Kingston, Baseball Falls

The Shelton baseball team wrapped up the regular season knocking off Capital 8 to 3 Monday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC broadcast the game live.

The Highclimbers got started in the bottom of the first inning when lead off hitter, Caeleb Hitsman, reached first base on a dropped third strike and ended up on third base after a couple of wild throws. Ty Smotherman followed with a ground ball that scored Hitsman. Shelton then moved Smotherman to third base and Trey Dehning batted in Smotherman with two outs.

High School Sports Results from 4/27/18

SHS Softball Wins, Baseball Loses; Losses for NM Baseball, Softball & Soccer

The Shelton fast pitch softball team pulled away from North Kitsap in the third inning and took the non-league game 9 to 1 Friday.

The Vikings scored first with a run in the second inning on a wild pitch. The Lady Highclimbers responded in their half of the second when Patricia Dugger hit a two out single to score Maleah Walsh.

High School Sports Results from 4/26/18

Win for SHS Soccer, Loss for Tennis; MMK & NM Track Results; NM Tennis Wins;

The Shelton boys’ soccer team won at Yelm Thursday 3 to 1. The Highclimbers improve to 5-7-and-3 on the season, 5-6-and-2 in the South Sound Conference. Shelton is currently fifth in the standings and wrap up the regular season at third place Peninsula on Tuesday. The top six teams from the SSC make the West Central / Southwest District Tournament and it appears the ‘Climbers will play the number four team from the Greater St. Helen’s League (Hudson’s Bay or Prairie) at Olympia’s Ingersoll Stadium 6 PM May 9th.

The Shelton girls’ tennis team lost at Peninsula 4 to 1 Thursday. The doubles team of Josie Beaudoin/Lindsi Smotherman was the one win for the Lady Highclimbers. Shelton hosts Capital today (Friday).

The Mary M. Knight’s Kaylee Sowle and Ian Frost won five events Thursday at the C2BL “Crossover” at Rainier High School.
Sowle took the girls’ long jump (with a season record distance of 16 feet 11 and a half inches), won the high jump and triple jump.
Frost won the boys’ shot put and discus, and took 2nd in the boys’ javelin (with a season record throw of 126 feet, 6 inches).
Jadyn Davidson was 2nd in the girls’ 200 meters (with a personal record time of 29.51 seconds).
Kaleb Riggs placed 3rd in the boys’ 1600 meters.
Zack Thompson was 4th in the boys’ javelin.
The Owls were the only Class 1B team to compete in the meet and in the team scoring the MMK boys were 4th while the girls placed 5th.
Next up for the track and field team from Matlock is the 58th Annual Shelton Invitational Saturday.

The North Mason boys track and field team beat Kingston Thursday 84 to 59 but lost to North Kitsap 103 to 42. The Lady Bulldogs lost to the Vikings 98 to 46 and fell to the Buccaneers 75 to 65.
Top individual results:
Natalie Carstensen won the girls’ 100 meters and took the 200 meters.
Miller Campbell took the boys’ javelin.
Braeden Kemmer won the boys’ long jump.

Losses for SHS Baseball, Softball, Golf; NM Golf Split, Baseball & Softball Lose

The Highclimbers scored first in the the first inning when Max “Falcon” Johnson hit a two-out sacrifice fly that scored Caeleb Hitsman.

Tie for SHS Soccer; NM Softball Wins, Baseball, Soccer & Tennis Fall

Shelton boys’ soccer team played Gig Harbor to a 1-1 ties Tuesday. The Highclimbers are now 4-7-and-2 on the season, 4-6-and-1 in the South Sound Conference. They travel to Yelm Thursday.

The North Mason softball team beat Kingston 10 to 1 Tuesday. Emma Crabtree batted in three runs for the Lady Bulldogs, going 1 for 3 at the plate with a double and scored a run. Corlise Newman was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Jordin Sullivan went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and scored two runs. Taylor Hendrickson was 2 for 4 and scored two runs. Natalie Mathews, Chloe Lewis and Kaylee Huffman each batted in runs. Lewis picked up the win, pitching seven innings, allowing one run on five heats and striking out four. The girls from Belfair improved to 4-and-10 on the season, 2-and-5 in the Olympic League. North Mason hosts North Kitsap Wednesday.

The North Mason baseball team lost to Kingston 6 to 0 Tuesday.

Wins for SHS Softball & Baseball; NM Baseball Wins, Softball Falls

The Shelton fast pitch softball team pounded Capital Monday 11 to 2.
Kamryn Hyland returned to the line up and led the Lady Highclimbers going 3 for 4 at the plate with two doubles, three RBI and scored two runs. Alyssa Jorgensen was 3 for 3 with two doubles, an RBI and scored four runs. Jayde Smith went 2 for 4 and batted in two runs. Alexandra Walters was 2 for 3 with two doubles, an RBI and scored two runs. And Trisha (last name not available) was 2 for 3 and scored two runs.
Walters got the win, pitching six innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out nine and walking two.
Shelton improved to 7-and-7 on the season, 4-and-5 in the South Sound Conference. The ‘Climbers travel to North Thurston Wednesday.

The Shelton baseball team shut out Peninsula Monday 2 to 0 behind the pitching of Max “Falcon” Johnson who pitched a complete game, allowing six hits, no runs, two walks, and struck out seven.
The Highclimbers were held to five hits: three by Matthew Osberg (3 for 3); the other two by Brenden Engstrom (1 for 4) and Wade Smotherman (1 for 2).
