High School Sport Results from 2/2/18

State Bowling Update; SHS Sub Regional Wrestling Update; MMK Basketball Split at Oakville

The State Bowling Championships continue today at Narrows Plaza in Tacoma. In individual results, Shelton Dreann Merriman is tenth among Class 3A bowlers with a six-game total of 1083, high games of 209 and 201, and an average of 180.

Other Highclimbers competing:
Kaylee Slone with a total of 981, a high game of 200 and an average of 163.
Courtney Chamberlin with a total of 923 and an average of 154.
Kaylee Schilter with a total 909 and average 151.
Rebecca Robinson with a total of 891 and average of 148.
Annalee Schilter and Taiyler Brown did not bowl during the first day.

At the start of Saturday’s baker games, Shelton was in fifth place.

North Mason has Aubriana Wight competing as an individual in the 1A/2A Championships. She has a six game total of 886, a high game of 180 and an average of 148.

The Shelton boys wrestling team is in third place after the first day of the Sub Regionals at North Thurston High School

High School Sports Results from 1/18/18

Win for NM Wrestling; Loses for SHS Wrestling & Swimming

The North Mason wrestling team beat North Kitsap 42 to 24.
Some of the Bulldogs’ highlights:
Reese Smelcer defeated Cash Holmes at 182 pounds.
Derek Johnson over Josh Snider at 220.
Nathan Hipple beat Bryson Hamon at 106 pounds.
Juan Miguel Jesus Miguel over Holly Beaudoin at 112 pounds
Garbriel Navarro beat Angel Collins at 120 pounds.
Miguel Gaspar-Hernandez defeated Caden Clark at 132 pounds.
Tomas Francisco over Jacob Diehl at 145 pounds.
The wrestlers from Belfair travel to Bremerton next Thursday.

Shelton boys’ wrestling team lost to Central Kitsap Thursday 39 to 36. Individual results were not available. The Highclimbers wrestle in the King of the Hills Tournament at Black Hills High School Saturday. You can watch that tournament’s championship round on Sound Sports Net. High School Sports Results from 1/9/18

Wins for MMK Basketball; NM Basketball Teams Fall; SHS Swim & Bowling Fall

The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team held Wishkah scoreless in the first quarter and flew to a 70 to 18 win. The Owls improved to 8-and-4 on the season, 2-and-1 in the 1B Coastal League. The boys from Matlock travel to North River Friday.

Despite a two-point third quarter, the Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team held off Wishkah 35 to 32 Tuesday. The Owls’ Kaylee Sowle scored 25 points, grabbed 21 rebounds (14 offensive), and had 5 blocks to lead the way.

Basketball: Shelton Girls Crush Clover Park

The Shelton girls’ basketball team made it two wins in a row Monday with a non-league crushing of Clover Park. The Lady Climbers held the Warriors to single digit scoring in each quarter and cruized to a 67 to 16 road win. Kylind Powell led Shelton with 16 points. Kayla Gairns added 13. And Jasmin Griffin and Lexi Moon chipped in 9 points apiece. The ‘Climbers improved to 9-and-3 on the season. They return to South Sound Conference action Wednesday at Yelm.

Basketball: Shelton Falls to Peninsula

A shorthanded Shelton girls’ basketball team lost a back-and-forth South Sound Conference game Wednesday to Peninsula 55 to 53. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC broadcast the game in which neither team led by more than six points.

The Seahawks’ Belle Frazier was a force that the Highclimbers were unable to stop, finishing with 36 points.

Basketball: Shelton Girls Win, Boys Fall; Losses for NM & MMK Girls

The Shelton girls’ basketball team dominated Central Kitsap Friday 69 to 42 in a game broadcast by MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.

The Lady Highclimbers started the game on a 5-0 run and led by as many as 12 in the first quarter. The Lady Cougars were able to trim that lead to three points in the second quarter but the ‘Climbers responded and pulled away in the second half.

High School Sports Results from 12/14/17

SHS Bowling Win, Swimming loses; NM Girls Wrestlers Compete in Sequim

The Shelton girls’ bowling team knocked off Timberline Thursday 5 to 0. The Lady Highclimbers have beaten the Blazers twice this season and improved to 12-and-1 on the season, 9-and-1 in the South Sound Conference. The Shelton bowlers are off until January 3, 2018 when they take on Black Hills at Tumwater Lanes.

The Shelton boys’ swim team lost at Peninsula Thursday 103 to 83.

Basketball Results from 12/12/17

SHS Boys Fall to Australian Team; MMK Teams Win at Three Rivers; NM Boys win in Bremerton

The Shelton boys’ basketball team lost to a team from Melbourne, Australia Tuesday night. The Highclimbers lost to Templestowe College 52 to 40. The Aussie team built a 13-point lead in the second quarter which Shelton cut to 4 but the Highclimbers were unable to get closer.

High School Basketball Results from 12/8/17

Shelton Splits Games; NM & MMK Fall

The Shelton basketball teams split games with North Thurston Friday. The Lady Highclimbers came from behind to beat the Rams 66 to 49 while the boys fell behind early and lost 77 to 59. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC was on hand for the boys’ game.

North Thurston led from the start of the game, building a nine point lead in the first quarter. Shelton turned Ram turnover into points and closed to with in a point in the second but NT pulled away by pressing the Highclimbers, forcing turnovers and scoring off Shelton’s mistakes. The Rams were up 30 in the third quarter.

High School Sports Results from 12/7/17

Wins for Shelton Wrestling, SHS Bowling, NM Bowling

The Shelton wrestling team knocked off North Thurston Thursday 39 to 34. A first period pin by Peace Lee at 132 pounds sealed the win for the Highclimbers. Shelton also had outstanding performances by Greg Jenning, Cameron MacAlevy, and Michael Gilman. Shelton hosts Capital, Peninsula and Yelm next Wednesday.

The Shelton girls’ bowling team shutout Peninsula Thursday 5 to 0 and are undefeated on the season. The Highclimbers take on Gig Harbor Tuesday at Tower Lanes in Tacoma.
