High School Sports Results from 4/20/18

SHS & NM Baseball Post Wins

The Shelton baseball team beat Timberline 4 to 3 in eight innings Friday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC broadcast the game.

Josh Deemer scored from third base on a passed ball with two outs in the bottom of the extra inning and the Highclimbers took soul possession of fifth place in the South Sound Conference.

High School Sports Results from 4/19/18

SHS Softball & Tennis Win, Soccer loses; NM Baseball & Softball Win, Track Split, Tennis Falls

The Shelton fast pitch softball team slipped by Timberline Thursday 6 to 5 in eight innings. With Trisha (last name not available) at second base in the extra inning and two out, Taya Gouley reached first on an error and Trisha scored the winning run for the Lady Highclimbers. Alyssa Jorgensen led Shelton going 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Erica Ayala was 3 for 5 with a triple and an RBI. Hallie Stotts went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

SHS Baseball Falls; NM Baseball & Tennis Win, Softball Falls

The Shelton baseball team lost to Central Kitsap Wednesday in eight innings 4 to 2.
The Cougars scored a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Carson Wiler.
The Highclimbers answered in the fourth when Maurice Castro singled on a fly ball to left field to drive in Brenden Engstrom with two outs.

High School Sports Results from 4/17/18

SHS Softball & Golf Win, Soccer Ties, Baseball Loses; NM Golf Wins, Soccer & Tennis Fall

The Shelton fast pitch softball team pounded out 15 hits in a 14 to 4 win at Capital Tuesday. Maleah Walsh led the Lady Highclimbers going 4 for 5 at the plate, with a double, three RBI and scored two runs. Alyssa Jorgensen was 3 for 5, with a double and three RBI. Erica Ayala went 3 for 4, scored two runs, and batted in a run. Alexandra Walters got the win, pitching seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out 11 and walking two. Shelton improved to 5-and-7 on the season, 2-and-4 in the South Sound Conference. The ‘Climbers travel to Timberline Thursday.

The Shelton boys’ golf team beat Central Kitsap 108 to 60. The Highclimbers’ Ethan Pentony led the way by shooting five over par 77 at Alderbrook Golf Course.

High School Sports Results from 4/13/18

Wins for SHS & NM Soccer; Results From Wolf Pack Invite

The Shelton boys’ soccer team slipped by Capital one-nil (1 to 0) Friday and have shutout their last two opponents. The Highclimbers are now 4-6-and-1 on the season, 4-and-5 in the South Sound Conference. They host Central Kitsap Tuesday.

The North Mason boys’ soccer team blanked Olympic Friday two-nil (2 to 0). The Bulldogs picked up their second win of the season and their second win over the Trojans. The boys from Belfair improved to 2-6-and-2 on the season, 2-and-6 in the Olympic League. They host Sequim Tuesday.

The Shelton boys’ track and field team placed 6th in the Wolf Pack Invite Friday while the Lady Highclimbers tied Black Hills for 7th.
Individual results:
William Johnson won the boys’ 3200 meters with a personal record time of 9 minutes, 45.23 seconds.

SHS Track Splits with Timberline; NM Golf Splits with NK

The Shelton boys’ track team beat Timberline 77 to 67 while the Lady Highclimbers fell to the Blazers 87 to 48.
Shelton’s top placers:
Troy Goodwin won the boys’ 100 meters and the 200 meters.
Aiden Gregg took the girls’ 800 meters.
Freshman Tori Bartholomew was 1st in the girls’ 1600 meters.
Freshman Victoria Silverman placed 1st in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.
William Johnson won the boys’ 800 meters.
Brock Knowles took the boys’ 1600 meters.
AJ Boother topped the boys’ 3200 meters.
Noah Manu was 1st in the boys’ 110-meter hurdles.
Domoniq Montte won the boys’ 300-meter hurdles.
The relay team of Brock Knowles, Ethan Bursch, William Johnson and Sirius James took the boys’ 4 x 400.
Cody Hall won the boys’ javelin.
Austyne Cralle topped the girls’ pole vault.
The ‘Climber boys participate in the 13-team Wolf Pack Invite today.

The North Mason boys’ golf team beat North Kitsap Thursday 237 to 172 while the Lady Bulldogs lost to the Vikings 257 to 251.

Shelton Softball Shut Out by Yelm

The Shelton fast pitch softball team managed only one hit against South Sound Conference foe Yelm Wednesday and the Highclimbers lost to the Tornados 16 to 0. Yelm took advantage of eight Shelton errors and had big innings, scoring six runs in the first inning and seven runs in the fourth.
Erica Ayala got the ‘Climbers’ only hit in the fifth inning as the Tornados’ Taylyn Culter struck out 15 and walked only four.
Shelton drops to 4-and-6 on the season, 1-and-4 in the SSC. They travel to Timberline Friday.

High School Sports Results from 4/10/18

Walk off Single Does In SHS Baseball, Golf Falls, Tennis Wins; NM Soccer Shut Out, Track Results

A walkoff ground ball to center field with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning broke a 2-2 tie and the Shelton baseball team lost at Timberline Tuesday 3 to 2. The Blazers scored two runs in the second inning but the Highclimbers responded with two runs in the third. Shelton managed only three hits with Brenden Engstrom, Trey Dehning and Ty Smotherman going 1 for 3 at the plate. Zack Jonker and Ty Smotherman scored the ‘Climbers’ runs on a error. Austin Ramsfield took the loss in relief of Engstrom (who went two innings, gave up two runs on one hit, struck out three and walked three). Ramsfield allowed a run on four hits while striking out four with no walks. Shelton drops to 10-and-3 on the season, 4-and-3 in the South Sound Conference. The teams play again Wednesday (weather permitting). MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the game beginning at 4 PM. (weather permitting)

The Shelton golf teams lost to Gig Harbor Tuesday. The boys fell 177 to 134 while the Lady Highclimbers lost 128 to 67. Shelton golfers host Central Kitsap next Tuesday.

The Shelton girls’ tennis team blanked Yelm Tuesday 5 to 0.

Shelton Softball Falls at Gig Harbor

The Shelton fast pitch softball team couldn’t overcome a nine-run deficit and lost at Gig Harbor Monday 9 to 3. Alyssa Jorgenson hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning to lead the Lady Highclimbers in the loss. After Taya Gouley reached on an error to lead off the final frame and Taylor Rasler walked, Jorgenson hit a 1-0 pitch over the left field fence. Shelton drops to 4-and-5 on the season, 1-and-3 in the South Sound Conference. They host Yelm Wednesday – weather permitting.

Shelton Baseball Gets 10th Win

After having most of the week off for spring break, the Shelton baseball team picked up its tenth win of the season Friday with a 13 to 2 non-league win at Centralia. Shelton scored six runs in the third inning and five runs in the fourth. The Highclimbers had a dozen hits and took advantage of five errors.

Ty Smotherman led the way going 2 for 3 at the plate with double and three RBI.
