High School Basketball Results from 12/8/17

Shelton Splits Games; NM & MMK Fall

The Shelton basketball teams split games with North Thurston Friday. The Lady Highclimbers came from behind to beat the Rams 66 to 49 while the boys fell behind early and lost 77 to 59. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC was on hand for the boys’ game.

North Thurston led from the start of the game, building a nine point lead in the first quarter. Shelton turned Ram turnover into points and closed to with in a point in the second but NT pulled away by pressing the Highclimbers, forcing turnovers and scoring off Shelton’s mistakes. The Rams were up 30 in the third quarter.

High School Sports Results from 12/7/17

Wins for Shelton Wrestling, SHS Bowling, NM Bowling

The Shelton wrestling team knocked off North Thurston Thursday 39 to 34. A first period pin by Peace Lee at 132 pounds sealed the win for the Highclimbers. Shelton also had outstanding performances by Greg Jenning, Cameron MacAlevy, and Michael Gilman. Shelton hosts Capital, Peninsula and Yelm next Wednesday.

The Shelton girls’ bowling team shutout Peninsula Thursday 5 to 0 and are undefeated on the season. The Highclimbers take on Gig Harbor Tuesday at Tower Lanes in Tacoma.

Shelton Girls Win Conference Opener; Boys Fall; Losses for NM Teams

The Shelton girls’ basketball team won its South Sound Conference opener Wednesday beating Capital 71 to 46. The Lady-‘Climbers jump out to an early 15-point lead and the closest the Cougars could get was nine points in a game that was broadcast by MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.

Four Shelton players scored in double digits led by Katie Johnson’s 18 points including four-three pointers. Timber Ware added 17 points, hitting three, three-pointers. Kaya Gairns chipped in 14 points – eight in the fourth quarter. And Kylind Powell had 10 points – five in the fourth. Every Highclimber played and only Taya Gouley didn’t score. Jasmine Griffin scored 4. Jorden Peterson and Decheiya Littlesun each hit a three. And Lexi Moon hit two free throws.

High School Sports Results from 12/1/17

Results from NM Basketball, MMK Basketball & Shelton Bowling

The North Mason girls’ basketball team improved to 2-and-0 Friday, knocking off Port Townsend 53 to 46. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Sequim Wednesday.

The North Mason boys’ basketball team lost at Port Townsend Friday 56 to 52. The Bulldogs hold their home opener Wednesday against Sequim.

The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team improved to 2-and-0 Friday, knocking off Quilcene 47 to 42. The Owls host Evergreen Lutheran Monday.

The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team lost at Quilcene Friday 41 to 35. The Lady Owls host Evergreen Lutheran Monday.

The Shelton girls’ bowling team improved to 9-and-0 on the season after knocking off North Thurston Thursday 4 to 1 and Friday’s win over River Ridge. The Highclimbers take on Central Kitsap Tuesday at All Star Lanes in Silverdale.

Shelton Boys’ Basketball Win Opener; Girls Fall

The Shelton boys’ basketball team took advantage of 19 Elma turnovers and the Highclimbers beat the Eagles in their season opener Thursday 66 to 44. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC broadcast the game.

Shelton had balanced scoring with Malik Freeman and Tyler Auld each scoring 10 points; Travis Colbenson and Caeleb Hitsman each adding 9 points; and Ty Thompson (despite foul trouble) and Jason Kenyon each chipping in 8 points.

High School Sports Results from 11/28/17

Wins for NM & MMK Basketball & Shelton Bowling

North Mason basketball teams opened the 2017-2018 season with wins over Klahowya. The Lady Bulldogs won 67 to 31 while the boys from Belfair knocked off the Eagles 62 to 43. Next up for North Mason is Port Townsend on Friday. The girls are at home. The boys on the road.

The Mary M. Knight basketball teams opened the season with wins over Crescent Tuesday. The boys beat the Loggers 52 to 30 while the Lady Owls won 54 to 30. Zack Thompson led the boys from Matlock with 19 points and 3 blocks. Eddy Krippelcz added 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. MMK travels to Quilcene Friday.

The Shelton basketball teams open the season Thursday. The boys travel to Elma while the girls are at Mt. Tahoma. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the boys’ game against the Eagles. Tip off Thursday is 7 PMThe first girls’ game to be broadcast by MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will be Wednesday, December 6, 2017 when the Lady-‘Climbers host Capital.

State Cross Country Results

Shelton’s William Johnson finished 69th, Ethan Bursch was 125th, John Gerchak finished 128th and Brock Knowles was 129th out of the 160 runners in the Class 3A Championships.
On the girls’ side, Highclimber freshman Aiden Gregg finished 91st.

North Mason’s Savannah Knutson was 99th and Isabella Porter finished 134th in the Class 2A State Cross Country.

NM Football Ends Season With Win

The North Mason football team ended the 2017 season with a 27 to 14 win over Clover Park Friday. With the win, the Bulldogs finish the season 5-and-5. Specific details and game stats were not available.

State & District Bound Highclimbers

Several Shelton High School athletes are playing in the post season including State bound cross country runners and tennis players, and District bound swimmers.

Five Highclimbers are heading to the Class 3A State Cross Country Meet this weekend at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco. Those from Shelton are freshman Aiden Gregg, sophomores Brock Knowles and Ethan Bursch, and juniors Will Johnson and John Gerchak. This will be Will Johnson’s third straight trip to the state.

The Shelton boys’ tennis doubles team of Jamin and Jonah Perry will be first alternate to state in the spring after placing seventh in the West Central District Tournament.

High School Sports Result from 10/5/17

Result from soccer, swimming & volleyball

The Shelton girls’ soccer team lost at Capital 3 to 1. Freshman, Emma Miller, scored the Lady Highclimbers’ goal in the second half. Shelton goal keeper, Victoria Silverman, had nine saves. The Highclimbers are still winless on the season. They host Peninsula next Tuesday.

The Shelton girls’ swim team lost at Gig Harbor 153 to 26. The Lady Highclimbers host Central Kitsap next Thursday.

The North Mason girls’ soccer team slipped by Bremerton Thursday 2 to 1. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 4-5-and-1 on the season, 3-and-4 in the Olympic League. The girls from Belfair travel to Silverdale Stadium next Tuesday to take on league leading Olympic.

The North Mason volleyball team lost to Bremerton three games to 1. The Lady Bulldogs are now 6-and-4 on the season, 4-and-4 in the Olympic League. The girls from Belfair travel to Olympic next Tuesday.
