Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 3 in Belfair Thursday night. According to a State Patrol press memo, a 2001 Ford Expedition and a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup were northbound on SR-3 about 10:30 PM. At the intersection with Highway 300, the Expedition slowed for a flagger. The pickup didn’t and struck the rear of the Ford.
A 70-year-old Olympia man suffered a medical emergency Saturday evening while driving southbound on U.S. Highway 101. The State Patrol says Jerry N. Wilson was driving a 2010 Hyundai Genesis when he suffered the medial event about 6:45 PM. The car drifted to the left of the highway and struct the cable barrier near Steamboat Island Road (milepost 359). The Hyundai came to rest in the center median. No other cars were involved.
A two-vehicle head-on hit and run collision occurred on Highway 3 in Shelton Saturday night. Specific details have not been released but no serious injuries were reported. The crash occurred around 9:30 PM on Olympic Highway South at the intersection with E Harvard Avenue (north of Dirt Cheap Cycle; south of Tozier Brother’s). A Belfair man was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the truck he was driving crashed on Highway 300 early Saturday morning. A State Patrol collision memo says the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was eastbound on SR-300 about 3:30 AM. In the 2600 block, about two and a half miles west of Belfair, the truck left the roadway to the right. The driver over corrected and the Chevy went into the westbound lane, then back in the eastbound lane before leaving the roadway to the right and striking a tree. The Silverado rolled onto the driver’s side and came to rest on a power pole.
An 18-year-old Elma woman died in a head-on crash on Highway 3 five miles south of Allyn Sunday. The State Patrol says a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was southbound on SR-3 about 7 PM. At milepost 15, which is between Dawn Drive and South Grapeview Loop Road, the pickup attempted to pass another vehicle, went into the oncoming lane and struck a northbound 2000 Saturn head-on. The highway was blocked for more than five and a half hours.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies are investigating a single-car fatality collision on Shelton Matlock Road near Lake Nahwatzel. Specific details on the crash have not been released but snow and slush appear to be contributing factors. No other information is available at this time.
The State Patrol is investigating what caused a 2005 Chrysler Sebring to strike a tree on Highway 3 north of Allyn Sunday evening that injured one person. According to a press memo, the car was southbound about 6:15 PM. At milepost 21.9, near Homestead Drive, the driver lost control. The Sebring crossed the northbound lane and struck a tree. The highway was blocked for more than three and a half hours.
A Belfair man was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Thursday after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on Highway 3 at the intersection with Sunnyslope Road. The State Patrol reports that a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu was southbound on SR-3 about 4 PM. The driver attempted to turn from the highway onto Sunnyslope and collided with a northbound 2016 Harley Davidson in the northbound lane.
