Gas Prices Dropping

The average price of a gallon of gas in Washington is dropping but remains the highest in the Continental United States. According to GasBuddy.com the average price in the State is $4.13 while the AAA auto club reports an average of $4.16.

Belfair Still Advised to Boil Water

The boil water advisory remains in effect for Belfair Water District customers. The advisory follows a break in a water main on Highway 300 last Tuesday that resulted in a disruption in water service for more than a day.

WellCity Award Leads to Insurance Discount

The Shelton City Commission will be recognizing staff at 2 PM Monday for earning a WellCity Award from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Employee Benefit Trust for the second year. As a result of earning this designation, City staff will receive a 2% premium discount on their Regence BlueShield or Asuris Northwest Health medical coverage in 2013.

Improvements at Latimer’s Landing Almost Complete

The improvements at Latimer’s Landing Boat Launch and Day Use Park are almost complete. According to John Keates, Director of Parks, Trails and Facilities for Mason County, the new expanded parking lot next to the Harstine Island Bridge will open soon.

Number of Fireworks Stand Licenses Down This Year

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the number of retail fireworks stand licenses issued this year is down from last year. There are 39 fewer licenses in 2012, down 4.2% from 2011.
