Herren was a high school basketball star whose drug and alcohol problem has been well documented throughout his career which took him from Fall River, Massachusetts to Boston College, to Fresno State, to the NBA and overseas before his addictions ended things in 2004.

Last Call for MGH Foundation 2012 American Business Women’s Award Nominees

Mason General Hospital Foundation is making a last call for nominations for the 15th annual American Business Women’s Award which honors the community’s most outstanding business women. The awards will be presented at a luncheon Friday, September 21st. Due to the Campus renewal Project, the 2012 luncheon will be held at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Shelton.

Mason General Hospital and Family of Clinics has a new Chief Financial Officer: Rick Smith. Smith began working for the Hospital at the end of March following the retirement of Merle Brandt.

Hood Canal School Selects New Superintendent

The Hood Canal School Board has selected a new Superintendent/Principal: Shawn Batstone. Batstone is currently Director of Teaching and Learning for the Yelm School District and has tentatively accepted the position based on successful contract negotiations.

Fairmount Paving/Closure Rescheduled

The City of Shelton has rescheduled the closure and paving of Fairmount Avenue. As part of the upgrades to the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant, Stellar J Corporation will be paving around the plant and a portion of Fairmount Avenue. That work, which was scheduled for this week, is now set for next Tuesday and Wednesday (May 8th & 9th) from 7 AM to 6:30 PM.
