Applicants Sought for Planning Advisory Commission

Mason County is seeking applicants from Commissioner District #2 for the Mason County Planning Advisory Commission. The PAC is a seven-member citizen board appointed to advise the County Commissioners on police related to amendments to the Comprehensive Plan, Shoreline Master Program, and land use regulations.

The League of Women Voters is offering an online voters’ guide: Vote411.org. This website provides information on all the candidates on the August 7th Primary Election Ballot – Nationwide. A voter can enter their address and find out about the races they will be voting on: from U.S. Senator to County Commissioner.

PUD 3 Trimming Trees in Shorecrest Monday

Mason County PUD No. 3 will begin a 10 week tree trimming/removal project in the Shorecrest area on Monday. PUD 3 crews will be working on Crestview Drive, Valley Rose Drive, Leeds Drive, Shorecrest, and surrounding roadways. There may be some traffic delays in the area.

Stable Gas Prices

Gas prices in Washington have stabilized, according to GasBuddy.com. However, the average price in the State has dropped 7 cents in the last week to $3.59 a gallon. This is 63 cents lower than a month ago and 19 cents lower than a year ago but still higher than the National average of $3.38. In Mason County, the lowest cash price for a gallon of regular unleaded in $3.37.

Credit Cards Compromised at Olympic College

At least 16 people have reported their credit cards might have been compromised at Olympic College. The Kitsap Sun and KIRO TV report one student at the Shelton campus and 11 students and four employees on the Bremerton campus told college security officers they were notified of suspicious activity including having their credit card numbers used at a Wal-Mart in Texas.
