Local Firefighters Participating in Seattle Columbia Center Stair Climb

Fifteen firefighters from three Mason County Fire Districts are participating in Sunday’s Stair Climb at Seattle’s Columbia Center. The 21st annual event raises funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. While racing up 69 floors of stairs (1,311 steps) to the Columbia Center observation deck, firefighters are required to wear the same 50 pounds of “bunker” gear – helmet, fireproof coat and pants, boots and breathing apparatus and air tanks – used to fight fires.

Belfair Water District Under New Management

The Belfair Water District is under new management after a special meeting of the Water District Commissioners Thursday afternoon. After a 40-minute executive session, the Commissioners unanimously placed District Manager Dave Tipton on paid administrative leave pending a review of his job performance.

Ridge Motorsports Park to Bring in Millions

The Ridge Motorsports Park is expected to bring in millions of dollars to Mason County. The recently completed racetrack located just north of Shelton on Eells Hill Road caters to Club Racers and is estimated to bring in nearly $9 Million annually to businesses in the County.

Island Residents Against Fudge Point Transaction

Harstine Island residents are in favor of preserving one of the most pristine beaches on the Island but opposed to any transaction that would lead to the development of Fudge Point into a State Park campground or a residential development that has also been proposed.
