The City of Shelton’s Finance Manger, Cathy Beierle, has earned another award from the Washington Finance Officers’ Association. Monday night, City Commissioner of Finance Mike Olsen read a letter from the Association explaining that Beierle earned a Professional Finance Officer Award for the State of Washington.

Drowning Not Cause of Man’s Death at Spencer Lake

The Mason County Coroner says that the man who died at Spencer Lake Sunday did NOT drown. Coroner Wes Stockwell says the autopsy on John E. Eads, 60 of Puyallup, showed that his death appears to be from natural causes, mostly likely a cardiac event.

Puyallup Man Dies at Spencer Lake

The man who died Sunday in a water related incident at Spencer Lake has been identified as 60-year-old John E. Eads of Puyallup. According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred just before 5 PM. Witnesses say Eads was water boarding on the Lake with his family when he started having what they described as a seizure and fell into the water.

Average Price of Gas 8/6/12

The average price of a gallon of gas in Washington is $3.68. According to GasBuddy.com, that is 3 cents higher than a week ago, 10 cents higher than a month ago but 12 cents lower than a year ago. The State’s average is also 8 cents higher than the National average. Prices in the Shelton area start at $3.59 a gallon. The lowest price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Belfair is $3.50.

Hospital Cafeteria in Temporary Location Starting Monday

Beginning today (Monday), the cafeteria at Mason General Hospital is in a new location as part of the Hospital’s Campus Renewal Construction Project. The second phase of the project includes a new dining room and remodeled cafeteria so the cafeteria has been relocated off-campus until early November: at United Methodist Church, 1900 King Street in Shelton, just to the south of the Hospital grounds.

Man Drowns in Spencer Lake – Updated

A 61-year-old man reportedly drown in Spencer Lake today (Sunday). Specific details have not been released but according to reports, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and personnel from Central Mason Fire & EMS responded to the Lake about 5 PM after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a possible water drowning. The man was pulled from the water and medics performed CPR but they were unable to resuscitate him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No name has been released.

PUD 3 Offices to be Closed Midday Thursday

The Belfair and Shelton offices of Mason County PUD No. 3 will be closed midday Thursday, August 9 so that employees may attend a function at the main office on Johns Prairie Road in Shelton. The downtown Shelton payment center will be closed from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM. The Belfair office will be closed from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM. And the Johns Prairie operations center will be closed from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
