Port Postpones Timber Surplus Hearing

The Port of Shelton Commission has postponed the public hearing on the surplus of timber on John’s Prairie. Originally, the hearing was scheduled for Tuesday but in order to make sure the Port provides the proper public notice, the hearing is now scheduled for 2 PM August 28th. The Port is considering logging 100 acres on John’s Prairie.

Car Wash Donation Drive for Fire Victims Saturday

Faire Moon Animal Rescue is holding a Car wash and donation drive Saturday at the Arcadia Chevron Espresso (1730 Olympic Highway South in Shelton) beginning at 11 AM for the victims of the Taylor Bridge Wildfire. The organization will have a trailer there and is asking for donations of animal care items and feed as well as blankets and clothing for those who have been displaced by the fire.

Save Shelton NJROTC Meeting Set

A community meeting has been set to save the Shelton NJROTC (Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps). The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 PM Tuesday, August 7th in the P.U.D. 3 auditorium on Johns Prairie Road. The Shelton unit is on the Navy’s list of units to be disestablished next year due to its failure to meet statutory and NJROTC regulatory minimum enrollment.

Last Day for Fair

Today (Sunday, July 29) is the final day for the Mason Area Fair and Rodeo. Gates open at 10 AM for all the music, food, animals, fire shows by Dragon Steps, rides, free hands-on kids activities, all types of vendors and exhibitors, and so much more.

Mason Area Fair Continues Saturday & Sunday

The Mason Area Fair & NPRA Rodeo continues today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday). Gates open at 10 AM both mornings and attendees will find plenty of music, food, animals, fire shows by Dragon Steps, carnival rides, free hands-on kids activities, all types of vendors and exhibitors, and so much more.

Paddle to Squaxin 2012: Canoes Landing Sunday

The Paddle to Squaxin 2012 is underway and a record number of tribal canoes will be landing Sunday afternoon. The Landing will around 1 PM at North Point in Olympia (between the studios of KGY Radio and the Swantown Marina) and will include the traditional ceremony to welcome ashore each Canoe Family who has made the journey.
