Slain Trooper Identified

The Washington State Patrol has identified the trooper shot and killed near Gorst early Thursday morning as 44-year old Tony Radulescu, assigned to the state patrol office in Bremerton. Trooper Radulescu was a 16 year veteran of the agency, having begun state service in December of 1995. He completed training and was commissioned as a trooper in July of 1996. He served his entire career in the patrol’s Bremerton district, working in several local communities.

Area gas prices rise 15 cents in week, 35 cents in year

Gasoline prices have spiked in recent weeks, both in South Sound and nationally, because of Middle East tensions. An oil-refinery fire in Whatcom County also is a factor here.

MMK’s Diggle Coach of the Year

Mary M. Knight’s Tim Diggle has been named the Coastal League’s Boys’ Basketball Coach of the Year. Diggle lead the Owls to the League and District Championships this season.
