Deputy Shoots Theft Suspect Near Lake Cushman

A 50-yearold Hoodsport man is in serious but stable condition at Mason General Hospital after being shot by a Mason County Sheriff’s Deputy Thursday night. According to Sheriff’s Detectives, at about 8:30 PM, a Deputy was conducting surveillance on North Dow Ridge Road above Lake Cushman in connection to a forest products theft investigation. The deputy watched the suspect stealing wood and called for back up.

Gov. Gregoire to sign gay-marriage bill Monday

A bill making Washington the seventh state to recognize same-sex marriages will be signed by Gov. Chris Gregoire in an 11:30 a.m. ceremony in the State Reception Center, her office says.
