Wind Advisory in Effect

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Saturday. Forecasters expect a strong onshore flow in the wake of Friday night’s Pacific frontal system will produce strong winds over much of Western Washington but the winds are expected to ease by tonight.

Snow Possible This Weekend

Snow is possible this weekend beginning Saturday night. According to forecasters, the best chance we will see the white stuff is between 10 PM Saturday night and 10 AM Sunday morning at the snow level drops to 600 feet with less than a half inch of accumulation expected.

5 arrested in trooper killing probe

Five people have been arrested for allegedly helping a man after he killed a Washington state trooper, including a former girlfriend of deceased gunman Joshua Blake, authorities say. Jessi Leigh Foster, 32, is the mother of one of Blake’s children. Blake, an ex-con with a history of antagonizing police, shot and killed Trooper Tony Radulescu early Thursday morning during a traffic stop, then committed suicide with a single shot to the head hours later.

Mason County Sheriff Casey Salisbury and several other people from his office will be the guest speakers at the next meeting of the North Mason Community Voice, 7 PM Monday. The Sheriff will discuss a variety of public safety issues that are of importance to the North Mason community.

Sheriff Recognizes Shelton Youth

Mason County Sheriff Casey Salisbury recognized the accomplishments of the students at the Shelton High School Friday during his monthly breakfast. On the last Friday of each month, the Sheriff hosts a breakfast that usually focuses on law enforcement or matters of the law with guest speakers that have included Governor Chris Gregoire and former Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court Gerry Alexander. But this month’s breakfast was dedicated to the hard work and accomplishments of students.

Montesano Man Dies in Mason County Crash

A 57-year-old Montesano man died Thursday night when his truck hit a semi 12.2 miles west of Shelton on the Shelton Matlock Road. According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, H. Craig Carter died at the scene of the crash about 10 PM.
