Quake Shakes Southwest Washington

A magnitude 3.3 earthquake shook an area of southwest Washington between Oakville and Raymond Sunday morning. The USGS reports the epicenter of the quake was 12 miles west-southwest of Oakville and 14 miles east-northeast of Raymond.

Power Outage in Lake Cushman

Mason County PUD No. 3 linemen restored electricity to an estimated 1,000 customers in the Lake Cushman area west of Hood Canal Sunday morning. The outage began at about 8 AM when a power line fell to the ground near the intersection of Wynoochee Drive and Highway 119 (Lake Cushman Road). Power was restored ahead of schedule, at 10:37 AM.  What caused the line to fall is under investigation.

Rain for Most; Snow for the Rest

With the official start of spring just days away, winter is still hanging around for some in Mason County. Rain is forecast for most areas through next weekend but those in Lilliwaup, Matlock, Union, Tahuya and at high elevations could see up to a half inch of the white stuff today, tonight and Monday.
