Rep. Drew MacEwen joins in call for auditor to resign

drew macewenRep. Drew MacEwen, R-Union, has joined with leaders in Washington state and called for Auditor Troy Kelley to resign. The auditor was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury on 10 counts allegedly stemming from his business practices prior to and during his time as auditor. The indictment comes in the wake of a federal subpoena and search warrant served last month.

Timberland Regional Library schedules spring training for library staff

TRL logoIn May, Timberland Regional Library (TRL) employees will have a professional training day to enhance knowledge and skills. Branches will close on a rolling schedule to ensure public access to services. The TRL Administrative Center will remain open. Central Reference Services will close Tuesday, May 5. The Hoodsport and Shelton libraries wil be closed Wednesday, May 13 while the North Mason library in Belfair will be closed Friday, May 22.

Police Chase Leads to Arrest

A police chase started in Shelton and ended in the Shorecrest area Wednesday morning ended with an arrest. The following is a news release from the Shelton Police Department:

On Wednesday, April 5, 2015 at about 10:30 Officers from the Shelton Police Department were working a Traffic Emphasis Patrol in conjunction with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol.

Two outstanding young men, seniors at North Mason High School, have each been awarded $1,000 scholarships for 2015 by the Mason Benson Club. The MBC, a community organization of residents who live on or near Mason and Benson lakes, annually grants the scholarships to graduating seniors.

401 Schools Win State’s Highest Honor – 3 in Mason County

OSPI logoThree Mason County schools were among the 401 schools to earned Washington Achievement Awards for 2014. Award-winning schools were notified last week via email by State Superintendent Randy Dorn and State Board of Education Chair Isabel Muñoz-Colón.
