BOB AND MELANIE APPEL RECEIVE FOUNDATION’S 2014 FLAME AWARD

DSC_7651Bob and Melanie Appel received the 2014 Flame Award during Mason General Hospital Foundation’s’ Annual Fantasy Forest Gala and Auction in November. Each year, MGH Foundation honors an outstanding individual(s) from the community who demonstrates strong support of the Foundation and of MGH&FC.  In 2013, Bob retired from his position as CEO for MGH&FC. He and his wife, Melanie, have been endless supporters of MGH&FC and the community for more than 20 years.  Melanie is also retired, but continues to follow her passion in volunteering her time to the importance of literacy and teaching English as a second language.

LOVE INC ‘SOUP & SONG’ EVENT SET FOR FEBRUARY

love INC logoOn Friday, February 7, 2015 at 6 p.m., the Shelton Presbyterian Church will host Love INC’s annual Soup & Song Benefit Concert.  The church is located at 1430 Shelton Springs Road in Shelton, and entry is by donation, with a suggested amount of $10.

Local musicians will be featured, along with soups donated by Mason County restaurants, stories from families and individuals helped by Love INC, and a dessert auction.

K-9 Receives Bullet Proof Vest

Dep Cotte & K9 SoloThe founder and president of “All K-9’s Go To Heaven”, Marti Tennant, joined together with a Seattle Seahawks football player and purchased a K-9 Storm Kevlar “bullet proof” vest for $2,300.00.  The vest was then donated to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office patrol K-9 “Solo”.

The Seattle Seahawks football player requested to remain anonymous, but without his very generous donation, the vest could not have been purchased.

UPDATE: Alleged Altercation Ends In Shooting Death

MCsheriff logo smallOn Tuesday night, December 16, 2014 around 6:51 PM, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office was called through MACECOM 911 Dispatch, by a man claiming that he had just shot an acquaintance because he claimed that the acquaintance had attacked him.

GREEN DIAMOND & SHELTON NAZARENE PROVIDE FIREWOOD FOR NEEDY

The Green Diamond Company recently gifted the Shelton Nazarene Church two truckloads of logs for its firewood ‘Gap Ministry’, which the church facilitates on behalf of Love INC of Mason County, according to Love INC Board President, Bill Kendrick.

Mount Olive Lutheran Church Welcomes New Pastor

rev Steve Heinsen installationMount Olive Lutheran Church, which has served the Shelton area since 1926, recently celebrated the installation of Rev. Steven Heinsen as their pastor.

rev Steve HeinsenRev. Heinsen was recommended by a committee of members that was formed over a year ago when the position became vacant. This call committee, with the help of the Northwest District President in Portland, interviewed potential leaders from across the United States and as far away as Poland. In October, the membership of the congregation unanimously voted to extend a call to Rev. Heinsen.

Shelton First Baptist Church To Host Giving Tree For Love INC

In honor of Christmas, Shelton First Baptist Church is hosting a ‘Giving Tree’ in December to help meet Love INC clients’ needs for cold weather items such as sleeping bags, blankets, tents, tarps, hats and gloves. Congregants will select a card from the tree that names a needed item. Donations will be collected at the Love INC office, stored in Love INC’s distribution center, and handed out as needs arise. The local Care Net Pregnancy Center is also part of the Giving Tree.

PUD 3’s Gott Reappointed to Power Association Council

2014-12-11---gott-appaThe American Public Power Association (APPA) Board of Directors this week appointed Mason County PUD 3 Commissioner Linda Gott to a three-year term on its Policy Makers Council. Gott had previously been selected by the board to a one year term.
