North Shore Road Closure Starts Tuesday

road closed signNorth Shore Road will be closed for nearly two months beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2015. North Shore Road will be closed at approximately milepost 3.47 beginning at 6 AM Tuesday. A detour route will be in place on nearby Beck Road but Beck Road will be closed to all over-dimensional loads while the detour is in place.

Inslee announces grant funding to assist communities with wildfire recovery

Hunting prospects look good, but wildfires may limit access

fish & wildlife logoWildlife biologists with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) have compiled information to help hunters have a successful hunting season.

The reports include information on deer, elk, waterfowl, turkey, upland birds and other species, as well as suggestions on techniques and places to hunt. Staff reports for all 17 wildlife districts in the state are available online at http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/prospects/.

New Principal at Shelton High School

shelton school district logoSuperintendent of Shelton School District, Dr. Alex Apostle, has named Jennifer Deyette as the principal of Shelton High School beginning with the 2015-16 school year.  Wanda Berndtson, who has served as principal for the past eleven years, will be assuming the role of Director of State and Federal Programs, a position formerly held by Ms. Deyette.

The Sunnyside Fire started Thursday evening, August 27, 2015 at 7:28 pm. The fire burned underneath power lines above the Sunnyside Road in the Skokomish Valley west of highway 101.
