The State Patrol has arrested a 21-year-old Belfair man in the hit-and-run pedestrian fatality on North Shore Road. The body of a 61-year-old man was discovered on the shoulder of Highway 300 (North Shore Road) near Gladwin Beach Road about 7:30 AM Saturday. The condition of the body led Troopers to believe that the man had been hit by a vehicle probably between 1 AM and 2 AM.
The State Patrol received a tip that there was a Dodge Ram Pickup at the Elfendahl Pass horse camp with front end damage. The Kitsap Sun reports the owner admitted to striking something during an interview with investigators. The vehicle was impounded and the investigation continues. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The suspect’s name will be released once he makes an initial court appearance.
