Air Stagnation Advisory; Burn Bans Still in Effect

The air stagnation advisory and burn bans remain in effect for much of Western Washington. The air stagnation advisory will be in effect until 10 AM Saturday. Stagnant atmospheric conditions persist, trapping pollutants near the surface, resulting in degraded air quality. People with respiratory illnesses should follow their physicians’ advice for dealing with air pollution. Stage 1 burn bans remain in effect in many counties including Mason, Kitsap, Pierce King and Snohomish. A Stage 2 burn ban has been issued for Thurston County. Under a Stage 1 Ban, no burning is allowed in fireplaces or uncertified wood stoves, and all outdoor burning is prohibited. A Stage 2 Burn Ban means NO burning is allowed in fireplaces or wood stoves (certified and uncertified), and all outdoor burning is prohibited.
