The Stadium basketball teams pulled away from Shelton Wednesday night.
In the girls’ game, the Tigers turned a four-point half time lead into a 48 to 33 victory by outscoring the Highclimbers 26 to 15 in the second half. Stadium was led by Nerissa Williams’ 17 points and Angela Yun’s 11. Shelton’s top scorer was Clara Robbins who had 13 points in the loss. The Tigers improved to 3-and-7 on the season, 2-and-2 in the Narrows League. They host Bellarmine Prep Friday. The ‘Climbers drop to 1-and-9 overall, 0-and-4 in League play. They travel to Mount Tahoma Friday.
The Stadium boys’ jumped on Shelton early and won 83 to 49. The Tigers were led by Patrick Minzel who led all scorers with 26 points while Anderson-Connolly chipped in 17 and Tyler Stumph added 12. The Highclimbers got 14 from Patrick Fabrizio. Stadium picked up their first win of the season and improved to 1-and-9 overall, 1-and-3 in the Narrows League. They travel to League leading and Number 1 ranked Bellarmine Prep Friday. Shelton dropped to 3-and-7, 0-and-4 in League play. The ‘Climbers host Mount Tahoma Friday.
The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team beat Ocosta Wednesday night 48 to 43. The Owls outscored the Wildcats in the fourth quarter 18 to 12 and won a game that was close throughout. The boys from Matlock improved to 2-and-3 on the season. They play at Taholah Friday.

In girls’ bowling, Shelton beat Stadium 6 to 1. The Tigers’ Jamie Welch rolled the high series with a 330 but it wasn’t enough as the Highclimbers continue their dominance behind the two-game total of 229 from Caitlyn Borys. Shelton takes on South Kitsap at 3 PM today (Thurs. 1/5/12) at Hi Joy Bowl in Port Orchard.
