County Garbage Hauling Contract Ruled Invalid

A Grays Harbor County Superior Court Judge ruled Friday that the garbage hauling contract between Mason County and Regional Disposal Company was invalid. Official details on the ruling have not yet been released but those involved with the case tell the Judge said the case brought by the Advocates for Responsible Government had standing. The Judge also ruled the June 5, 2012 contract was a new contract and not an extension. The Judge gave the County six months to open the contract to the competitive bidding process, giving the County an opportunity to “mend their mistake.” It is unknown whether the County will appeal this ruling. More details on the ruling are expected in the coming days.

  1. And there it is- another misstep by Tim Sheldon that wastes taxpayer money. One has to wonder about an elected official who claims to be a financial conservative, yet acts so recklessly to accommodate special interests. Mason County can no longer afford to have a sitting Senator serve as County Commissioner.
