A flood watch remains in effect for the Skokomish River. The National Weather Service says periods of heavy rain over the Olympic Mountains today (1/4/12) through late this evening could drive the Skokomish above the 16.5-foot flood stage and produce minor flooding. Up to 3 inches of precipitation could fall in the mountains today through late tonight. However, the snow level will begin around 8000 feet today and fall to 4000 feet by tomorrow morning which could keep the River below the 15.5-foot advisory stage.
There is an 80% chance of rain today (Wednesday 1/4/12) and a 90% chance tonight. Then the chance of precipitation will drop to 50% Thursday and 30% Thursday night. A drying trend is expected to begin on Friday that should hold through the weekend.
