State Patrol to Hold Additional Cadet Testing

The Washington State Patrol will be holding additional cadet testing next month. A news release says the Patrol’s recent round of cadet testing caught many people unprepared to take the required cadet fitness and written tests. Officials say the biggest stumbling block continues to be the fitness test, specifically sit ups. WSP loses about half the people wanting to join the State Patrol during the fitness test but according to Sergeant Troy Tomaras of the agency’s Cadet Testing Section, a number of good candidates missed the standard by very small margins and he thinks with a little extra time they can meet that requirement. This also means that those who didn’t take the test now have time to get in shape and sign up. The Patrol recommends people who plan to take the upcoming tests to train to exceed your age’s minimum fitness standards; practice doing sit-ups, push-ups and running 1.5 miles and make exercise part of your daily routine.
