A blown tire caused an SUV to roll Over on U.S. Highway 101 near Little Creek Casino Monday evening, seriously injuring the driver.
According to a Washington State Patrol press memo, a 1985 Chevrolet Blazer was northbound on 101 at a high rate of speed about 5 PM. As the SUV approached the interchange with State Route 108, the driver attempted to change lanes. At the same time the front passenger side tire blew out. The Chevy went to the right shoulder and rolled.
The driver of the Blazer, a 54-year-old Auburn man, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The trooper’s report indicates that drugs or alcohol were involved and the driver faces DUI, reckless and driving while license suspended charges. The memo also the cause of the crash was “Defective Equipment.”
