Law Enforcement; School District Bringing “A Message of Hope”

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office in Cooperation with all of the other law enforcement agencies in Mason County and Shelton School District is proud to bring to Mason County “A Message of Hope – A Conversation with Chris Herren”. This is a live presentation on May 15, 2012, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Skookum Creek Event Center. According to a news release, Chris Herren, a basketball legend from Fall River, Massachusetts, realized his dreams by playing for the Celtics in the NBA, only to lose it all to addiction before rising again with a new dream. Bracken Budge, Principal at Oakland Bay Junior High School, said, “Chris will present a compelling message of hope that is aimed at our youth. Students who are on drugs still have hope and you can stop.” The presentation is free and doors open at the event at 7:00 PM. Jim Barrett, Undersheriff, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, and Shelton School Board member said “Drugs have become a continuing problem Mason County, the State of Washington and the entire country. Many lives are ruined by drug and alcohol use. That is why the Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the schools to present this inspirational program. We are working to make this partnership permanent.” 4-11-12jim
