Hoodsport Man Airlifted after Purdy Canyon Crash

A Hoodsport man was airlifted after the truck he was driving flipped on U.S. Highway 101 and then struck by a log truck Friday morning near Purdy Canyon Drive.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the 38-year-old Hoodsport man was northbound on 101 in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pick up just before 5 AM. At milepost 339, the truck left the roadway to the left and flipped over, coming to rest on its roof in the northbound lane. A northbound 1997 Kenworth log truck behind the Chevy then struck the pickup and both vehicles ended up in the northbound ditch.

The Hoodsport man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The driver of the log truck, a 32-year-old Rochester man, was not injured.

Cause of the crash remains under investigation.
