Mason County and the City of Shelton have free options to recycle your Christmas tree.
The City of Shelton will be picking up Christmas trees to recycle on Monday, January 4, 2021. Please have your tree to the curb by 8:00 a.m. Trees should be clear of any decorations, including stands, lights, ornaments, and tinsel. City crews will be collecting trees within Shelton city limits only. If your garbage pickup location is in an alley, you may also place your tree in the alley. Please make sure trees are located at least 4 feet from any garbage cans. City crews will run recycled trees through a chipper to create mulch.
Mason County residents can drop-off their Christmas trees at the Shelton Transfer Station, 501 West Eells Hill Road in Shelton, Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM or at the Belfair Solid Waste Drop Off Facility, 2001 NE Sand Hill Road in Belfair, Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM. am to
County residents with Mason County Garbage and Recycling curbside service can cut up their trees and stick them in their cart as part of their regular pickup.
Please note that all trees dropped off for free recycling must be free of tinsel, decorations, and flocking. Wreaths and garlands will not be accepted for free recycling since these items contain wires and can not be recycled.
