New cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Mason County with 23 reported on Thursday, December 10, 2020. According to Mason County Public Health’s daily news release, the number of active cases dropped to 139 with now two people hospitalized. The County’s rate of new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 over the last two weeks went up from 243 to 272. This rate is calculated using a population of 64,980 and 177 new cases in the last 14 days.
The December 10th, 2020 – 4:00 p.m. news release says: “Since the last release (12/9/20), Mason County Public Health was notified of Twenty-Three (23) additional Mason County residents that tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total to Nine Hundred and Sixty (960) positive cases in Mason County.”
