Mason County Public Health reported 13 new COVID-19 cases in the County on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. The number of active cases in Mason County increased to 136 (with still four hospitalized) but the County’s rate per 100,000 per over the prior two weeks has dropped from 234 to 220. The rate is based on 64,980 population and 143 new COVID-19 cases in last 14 days. The total number of confirmed cases in Mason County is now over 900 (910) with 11 deaths and the over 19,500 (19,581) tests have been performed.
The December 8th, 2020 – 4:00 p.m. news release says: “Since the last release (12/7/20), Mason County Public Health was notified of Thirteen (13) additional Mason County residents that tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total to Nine Hundred and Ten (910) positive cases in Mason County.”
The release also talks about the outbreak at the Washington Corrections Center (WCC) saying, “The positive cases in Mason County will temporarily not match the data from Washington State Department of Health (DOH) due to this outbreak. The total confirmed cases reported above does not include cases from WCC inmates. WA DOH is working with us on reconciling these numbers. WCC is coordinating with WA DOH during the outbreak.”
