State Patrol Identifies Man Who Died in Purdy Canyon Crash

The Washington State Patrol released the name of the man who died early Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle crash in the Purdy Canyon.

A press memo says William W. Weiss, 56 of the Skokomish Nation, died at the scene of the crash on U.S. Highway 101 near Purdy Cutoff Road about 2 AM.

Weiss and a 49-year-old Skokomish woman were southbound when the 1999 Acura they were in left the highway to the right and struck a tree. The car then went down an embankment.

The woman was transported to Mason General Hospital in Shelton as a precaution.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
