A 56-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 at Purdy Canyon early Tuesday morning.
The Washington State Patrol says the man and a 49-year-old woman were southbound about 2 AM when the car they were in left the highway to the right and struck a tree near Purdy Cutoff Road. The car then went down an embankment.
The man was driving and was pronounced at the scene. The woman was transported to Mason General Hospital in Shelton as a precaution.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and the name of the man has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
