Mason County Unemployment Rate Drops in October

Mason County’s unemployment rate dropped almost three-percent in October. Washington Employment Security reports that the County’s unemployment rate last month was 7.6 percent, down 2.8 percentage points from September’s revised rate of 10.4 percent but still two and a half percent above October 2019’s rate of 5. 1 percent.

Adjacent counties saw similar drops in unemployment rate in October. Grays Harbor County also showed a drop of 2.8 percent to 8.6 percent. Lewis County saw a 2.7 percent drop to 6.3 percent. Pierce County’s drop was 2.5 percent to 6.9 percent. Jefferson County’s unemployment rate last month was 6.5 percent, down 2.4 percent. Thurston County’s unemployment rate in October dropped 2.2 percent to 5.7 percent. And Kitsap County had a 5.5 percent unemployment rate last month, down two percent from September.
