The following is a summary of road construction and maintenance scheduled on state highways around Mason County and adjacent areas from October 4, 2020 to October 10, 2020.
US 101 – Coffee Creek – Remove Fish Barrier
Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 346.8
Description: Crews are finalizing work on the Coffee Creek fish barrier removal project. All work is expected to be complete by early November.
Work Schedule: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each weekday.
Highway: SR 3 Region: Olympic County: Kitsap Location: Milepost(s) 31.1 – 31.7
Description: Travelers are using a temporary bypass road while crews build a roundabout at the intersection of SR 3 and Airport Road. The speed limit is temporarily reduced from 50 mph to 30 mph between milepost 31.16 and 31.77.
Work Schedule: Around the clock through early November.
Highway: SR 3 Region: Olympic County: Kitsap Location: Milepost(s) 41.1
Description: Crews are conducting preliminary work associated with the SR 3 Chico Creek Remove Fish Barrier project.
Work Schedule: No scheduled work activities that affect travelers.
Highway: SR 8 Region: Olympic County: Thurston Location: Milepost(s) 18 to 19
Description: Single-lane closure in both directions for environmental monitoring.
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 7-9.
SR 302 – E of Elgin Clifton Rd to SR 16 – Remove Fish Barriers, Paving and ADA Compliance
Highway: 302 Region: Olympic County: Pierce Location: Milepost(s) 10.8 to 16.9
Description: This project removes and replaces three outdated culverts under SR 302 with fish passable structures, repaves 6 miles of SR 302, and rebuilds sidewalks and ramps at the intersections of SR 302 and SR 302 (Spur) through SR 302 and 94th Avenue to comply with the Americans with Disability Act and improve access for all travelers.
Work Schedule: Drivers will see weekday, daytime construction as crews build the concrete girder bridge at Minter Creek. Previously announced Purdy Bridge deck repairs have been canceled by the contractor due to historic forecasted rain in mid to late September. The work will now occur sometime during summer of 2021.
- Final striping is now complete. Minor work on the temporary bypass removal are underway through late October, however the project is mostly done for winter. Work will resume in spring of 2021 as crews finish work at Little Minter Creeks (install box culverts) and SR 302 Purdy Bridge for deck repairs.
