Bicyclist Injured on 101

A bicyclist was injured Tuesday afternoon while riding along U.S. Highway 101 near Rest-A-While RV Park.

The Washington State Patrol reports the bicyclist, a 52-year-old Longbranch man, was southbound on 101 about 1:30 PM when a northbound 2014 Jeep Cherokee attempted a left turn into the Rest-A-While parking lot. A collision memo says the Jeep turned in front of the bicycle which struck the SUV’s passenger door.

The bicyclist was transported by aid car to Mason General Hospital in Shelton.
The driver of the Jeep, a 70-year-old Hoodsport woman, was not injured.

The memo indicates the cause of the crash was the Hoodsport woman failing to yield to “to a vulnerable user.”
