Mason County’s unemployment rate rose in July. According to Washington State Employment Security, the County’s unemployment rate last month was 12 percent. That’s up 1.6 percentage points from June’s revised rate of 10.4 percent and nearly twice July 2019’s rate of 6.1 percent.
Adjacent counties also saw increases in July. Grays Harbor County saw the largest increase (1.8%) to 14 percent. Thurston County’s unemployment rate last month was up 1.5 percent to 10.4 percent. Jefferson (12%) and Lewis (11.5%) both saw increases of 1.4 percent in July. Kitsap County’s unemployment rate last month was went up 1.3 percent to 9.5 percent. And Pierce County saw a one-percent increase to 12.3 percent.
