A Shelton man was taken to a Seattle hospital after the motorcycle he was riding struck a car on U.S. Highway 101 near Holiday Beach Sunday evening.
The Washington State Patrol says a 2003 Volkswagen Passat was on the shoulder of northbound 101 at Virginia Avenue about 7:15 PM. The driver of the VW, a 26-year-old Shelton man, attempted a prohibited U-turn in front of a northbound 1994 Honda VT1100 motorcycle which struck the car. Highway 101 was fully and partially blocked at milepost 329 for three hours.
The 21-year-old Shelton man on the motorcycle was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital and then transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The 26-year-old man Shelton man driving the VW was not injured.
A press memo indicates that drugs or alcohol were involved and the 26-year-old faces vehicular assault charges.
