Fire District 11 Sending Fire Truck Bond to Voters

Mason County Fire District 11 will be asking voters to approve a six-year, $371,0000 bond in November to purchase and equip a new fire truck. The Fire District Commission unanimously approved a resolution Monday night to place the measure on the General Election Ballot.

If approved, the Island Lake Fire Department would use the funds used to purchase a “new primary fire truck and related equipment.” The bond would be for “no more than $371,000” and the tax rate is estimated at 35 cents per thousand of assessed value.

According to Fire Chief Brandon Searles, the rate per thousand will change depending on the interest rate received during bond sale:
