A Renton woman was flown to a Seattle hospital Sunday afternoon after falling off a motorcycle on U.S. Highway 101 near Hamm Hamma.
According to the Washington State Patrol, a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle and a 2018 BMW motorcycle were side-by-side on northbound U.S. 101 behind a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Just before 1 PM, the truck slowed to a stop for a vehicle turning onto Hamma Hamma Road. One of the motorcycles (the BMW) struck the rear of the pickup while the other (the Kawasaki) left the roadway to the northbound shoulder and went into the trees which caused the passenger to fall off the motorcycle.
The 20-year-old Renton woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The driver of the Kawasaki, a 27-year-old Kent man, the driver of the BMW, a 26-year-old Kirland man, and the driver the pickup truck, a 32-year-old man from Beaverton, OR, were not injured.
A press memo indicates that the cause of this crash was the motorcyclists following too close and both were cited.
