A statement from Mason County Public Health:

“We are entering a new season of COVID-19. Until recently, cases could be traced to direct contact with positive cases from outside Mason County. During the stay-at-home order, cases had limited close contacts (being within 6 ft of others for greater than 15 minutes without a mask), which slowed the transmission and made it easier for us to trace contacts. As our community re-opened, the number of close contacts for positive cases has increased dramatically and this virus is now in community-spread. While we have initially provided a greater level of detail in the source of new case information, contact tracing and investigations have become more complex. Going forward, release of new cases will be less detailed. We can continue to slow the spread of this virus by following the Phase 3 guidance of gathering with no more than 10 people outside your household per week.

“Due to Mason County being a small community, location data of positive cases will not be released to reduce the possibility of patient identification and to protect personal health information. Identified positive cases are located throughout Mason County. Mason County Public Health is asking that the public do their part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

“If you are showing symptoms for COVID-19, early testing is encouraged. At the earliest signs of symptoms please reach out to the Respiratory Illness Triage line at 360-427-3615. They can assist you in scheduling an appointment at Mason Health’s Drive Thru COVID-19 testing.”
