A 24-year-old Belfair man was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the car he was driving rolled over on Highway 3 near South Shore Road early Thursday morning.
A Washington State Press Memo says a 2001 BMW 330 was southbound on State Route 3 at a high rate of speed about 1:30 AM. At milepost 25, the driver failed to negotiate a curve, the car crossed the northbound lane and struck an embankment. The BMW continued to travel along the ditch until its rear caught which caused the car to roll.
The highway was fully blocked for three hours and 45 minutes.
Cause of the crash is under investigation. Troopers do NOT believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
Shelton Man Uninjured in I-5 Debris Incident
A 62-year-old Shelton man escaped injury after the semi he was driving struck debris on northbound I-5 in Lakewood Wednesday evening. The debris came from a southbound over-height load that struck a railroad overpass near Bridgeport Way about 6 PM.
Interstate 5 was partially and fully block intermittently for nearly two hours while the State Patrol investigated and crews cleared the debris from the highway.
Three vehicles were involved (two semis and a pickup truck) in this incident and no injuries were reported.
A press memo indicates defective equipment as a causing factor and the driver of the over-height load, a 51-year-old La Center man, was cited for Negligent Driving 2nd Degree.
