Fatal Crash near Hamma Hamma

A Brinnon man died in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night on U.S. Highway 101 near the Hamma Hamma River.

The Washington State Patrol says a 2015 Subaru Impreza was northbound on 101 about 9:15 PM. At milepost 319.9, the car left the roadway to the right and struck a tree.

The driver of the Subaru, identified as Christopher S. Shuman, 43 of Brinnon, died at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. A press memo indicates that Shuman was not wearing a seat belt.

  1. Sorry for your loss. We are reporting facts released by the Washington State Patrol at 2:12 AM. This story was posted after 8 AM. The line about not wearing a seat belt was included to remind people to wear their seat belts.

  2. I understand you are reporting news-facts as you see or receive them.

However I am going to to ask you to consider for one moment that you are the parent of this person. That this was your that your child just died in.
Just maybe you could include some kind of empathy in a post of a local person dying and the family who are also locals for over 10 years now is suffering a loss that they have only known about since 1a.m.
    You knew before they did.
So instead of ending it with he wasnt wearing a seatbelt, it’s under investigation….maybe a little humanity towards the people who cared about him, who will never have another birthday..etc. A simple out thoughts are with you.
