A 28-year-old Mason County man was arrested Saturday after a robbery resulted in a large police response to Bob’s Tavern in downtown Shelton.
According to a news release, Shelton Police were dispatched to the Log Cabin Tarvern about 11 PM regarding a robbery.
The victim reported that a male suspect had walked up to him outside of the Tavern and demanded his wallet and cell phone while making intimidating comments. The victim also stated that the suspect was part of a group of five other people and that he had made comments about going to Bob’s Tavern and repeating his actions.
Police officers were responding to a domestic violence call and requested assistance from the Washington State Patrol and Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
Troopers and deputies responded to Bob’s Tavern to prevent any potential robbery. Upon arriving, they noticed a man matching the description of the suspect from the earlier robbery. When officers attempted to detain the suspect, he resisted, and a fight began. At the same time, other patrons began yelling at the responding officers, making the scene volatile. More police were requested from around the area as the scene was described as “extremely chaotic and unruly.”
The suspect was eventually placed into handcuffs and transported to Mason County Jail. When the suspect was searched, the victim’s wallet and cell phone were located in his pockets. The suspect was booked on charges of robbery and resisting arrest.
