Mason County COVID-19 Cases Now 24

The number of coronavirus (COVID1-9) case in Mason County increased to 24 Thursday. Mason County Public Health was notified April 30, 2020 of one (1) additional Mason County resident who tested positive for COVID-19. Mason County Public Health is continuing contact interviews. The patient, a man in his 80’s, is currently isolating at home.

Case information is as follows:

Of the 24, 19 are reportedly longer symptomatic and have returned to work or their regular routine. One man in his 70’s who was hospitalized outside Mason County was the first county resident to die due to complications related to coronavirus.

Due to Mason County being a small community, location data of positive cases will not be released to reduce the possibility of patient identification and to protect personal health information. Identified positive cases are located throughout Mason County. To avoid exposure, continue to follow the guidance of washing hands frequently, stay home, unless essential to work and limit travel to only medical appointments, medication pick up, and once every 2-week grocery shopping needs. This will help limit your exposure possibilities. Mason County Public Health is asking that the public do their part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
