Ballots for special elections in Mason County Fire Districts 6 and 16, and the North Mason School District are due by 8 PM tonight (April 28, 2020). Ballots need to be in a ballot drop box no later than 8 PM or if mailing in your ballot, it must have today’s postmark to be counted.
Fire District 6, which serves Union, is asking voters to approve a ten-year 50 cents per thousand of assessed value Emergency Medical Services levy.
Voters in the Fire District 16 (West Mason Fire which serves Shelton Valley, Dayton, Skokomish Valley, Brockdale/McReavy, and the Skokomish Tribe) are being asked to approve two measures. Proposition No. 1 would restore the property tax levy for maintenance and operations to the amount prior to the merger of Fire Districts 9 and 16. The amount would not exceed $1.30 per thousand of the assessed value. Prop #2 would be a permanent Emergency Medical Services Levy for opertations and staffing of 50 cents per thousand of assessed value.
And the North Mason School District is asking voters to approve a four-year Educational Programs and Operations Levy at $2.16 per thousand of assessed value. This levy would replace the District current live which expires at the end of this year. The new levy is extimated to collect $5,650,615 each year from 2021 to 2024.
