With the help of social media and tips from the public, Shelton Police arrested a 49-year-old Shelton man for breaking into and ransacking a bar.
According to a news release, about 1:30 AM Monday, April 20th, an unknown male smashed a window of a the bar, entered and began ransacking the the bar and restaurant area. The suspect fled with some food items and bar property. Around 7 AM, a passerby reported the broken window.
Unfortunately, no alarm sounded during the incident but there was a video surveillance system. The owner of the bar posted several photos of the suspect on Facebook and several anonymous tips directed Shelton Police to a possible suspect.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 22, 2020, a Shelton Police officer recognized a possible suspect, wearing the same clothing as the suspect in the surveillance footage. The suspect was detained. After being interviewed by a Shelton Police detective, the suspect admitted that he forced entry into the bar and stole the items.
The man was booked into Mason County Jail for Burglary, 2nd Degree.
