A fully loaded semi truck rolled over and blocked State Route 3 near Dawn Drive Monday afternoon.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the 2003 Volvo tractor and trailer was northbound on SR-3 about 2:45 PM. As the semi approached the apex of a curve south of Dawn Drive (milepost 16.6, about 4 miles south of Allyn), the tracker went into the southbound lane. The driver, a 62-year-old Lake Forest man, over corrected and the trailer began to fishtail. The load inside the trailer shifted which caused the semi to roll onto its side. The tractor and trailer slide 150 feet before coming to rest in the southbound lane.
Highway 3 was partially closed for over and hour and fully closed for two and a quarter hours.
The driver was not injured.
The cause of the crash was speed and the driver was cited for reckless driving.
