The Mason County Treasurer’s Office is temporarily reducing hours to comply with the Governor’s “Stay Home. Stay Healthy.” order. According to a news release on the Treasurer’s website, office hours are temporarily reduced to between 9 AM and 1 PM allowing staff “to focus fully on meeting our mandatory obligations and maintain the intent of the governor’s order, by minimizing contact.” These reduced hours will be in effect through April 6th.
The Treasurer encourages the public to only make appointments for emergency related items during this time.
The news release also says no decision has been made to extend the April 30th due date for property tax payment. The Treasurer is working on the ability to extend payment options for those impacted on an individual basis.
The Treasurer encourages taxpayers with the ability to pay their taxes to so “as soon as possible” as state and local governments depend on these tax dollars to provide the community with public health services, hospital care, law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services and other essential services.
