The following is a summary of road construction and maintenance scheduled on state highways around Mason County and adjacent areas from February 23, 2020 to February 29, 2020.
US 101 – Coffee Creek – Remove Fish Barrier
Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 346.8
Description: If the weather cooperates, crews are set to open two new ramps at the US 101 Shelton-Matlock Road interchange. The upcoming changes are a key step for the project intended to help open new habitat for fish. In order to open the new ramps, crews will need an extended closure of both the southbound US 101 exit to Shelton-Matlock Road and the Shelton-Matlock Road on-ramp to southbound US 101. Crews at that time will open both new ramps that will create a more traditional diamond interchange. A signed detour will be available during the closure.

Weekdays: From 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. each weekday, travelers can expect brief traffic stops and shoulder closures on Shelton-Matlock Road approaching US 101 interchange.
Extended ramp closure: The southbound US 101 exit to Shelton-Matlock Road and the Shelton-Matlock Road on-ramp to southbound US 101 will close from 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 2. In addition, travelers using both directions of US 101 approaching the interchange can expect daytime one-way alternating traffic Monday, Feb. 24, and Wednesday through Friday, Feb. 26-28.

Description: Southbound shoulder closure for guardrail enhancements.
Work Schedule: 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 20-21.
Highway: SR 108 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 11
Description: Shoulder closures in both directions for rail road work.
Work Schedule: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.
Highway: SR 108 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 4.9 to 9.7
Description: One-way alternating traffic for Mason County PUD #3 power pole replacement.
Work Schedule: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday through Thursday, Feb 28.
SR 302 – E of Elgin Clifton Rd to SR 16 – Remove Fish Barriers, Paving and ADA Compliance
Highway: 302 Region: Olympic County: Pierce Location: Milepost(s) 10.8 to 16.9
Description: This project removes and replaces three outdated culverts under SR 302 with fish passable structures, repaves 8 miles of SR 302, and rebuilds sidewalks and ramps at the intersections of SR 302 and SR 302 (Spur) through SR 302 and 94th Avenue to comply with the Americans with Disability Act and improve access for all travelers. Drivers can expect up to three weekend closures of the SR 302 Purdy Spit for bridge deck repairs scheduled for summer 2020. The bridge deck work will take place day and night. A signed detour will be in place during construction. Paving and deck repairs will require warm, dry weather conditions. Paving operations will occur overnight, when traffic volumes are less.
Work Schedule: A temporary detour road around the work zone is now open. Speed limit through the work zone is 25 mph. Drivers will see weekday, daytime construction as crews build the bridge at Minter Creek. Any road closures will be announced in advance.
