Four Shelton Wrestlers Place at State

All four of Shelton’s wrestlers who competed in Mat Classic XXXII took home trophies at the Class 3A State Wrestling Tournament Saturday.

Cameron MacAlevy placed 3rd at 126 pounds. MacAlevy lost to Yelm’s Gage Nelson in the semi-finals Saturday. The decision was 1 to 0. The Highclimber then beat Ryan Brown from Bethel 5 to 2 in the Consolation Bracket Semi before taking 3rd by injury default over Everett’s Fernie Vasquez.

Robert Allred took 3rd at 145 pounds. Allred advanced through the consolation bracket winning three bouts Saturday. First the ‘Climber pinned Lehman Tucker from Spanaway Lake; then pinned Edmonds-Woodway’s Howie Hare; before beating Eli Osso from Yelm by a 15 to 1 major decision.

Beau Ward finished 7th at 138 pounds. Saturday, Ward lost to Mt. Spokane’s Biley Buth and beat Jermain Broussard from Spanaway Lake.

On the girls’ side, Jazlind Warren finished 8th at 170 pounds after dropping her two consolation bracket bouts Saturday. The Lady-Highclimber lost to Lourdes Torres from Sunnyside and Liberty Spangle’s Charlie Johnson.
