[VIDEO] The Port of Allyn Commission utilizes the services of MasonWebTV Powered by HCC to record their meetings. The video of the Port of Allyn Commission’s February 10, 2020 special meeting – public hearing on the Port’s Comprehensive Scheme of Harbor Improvements — the strategic plan governing the Port’s active and proposed projects between 2020 and 2023 – is now available.
Two projects which were included in the previous plan have been reprioritized, including the development of a business park, which has been moved into the number two slot, and the development of a destination sports complex which has been moved to the number three slot. While it was the number one publically-supported project in a survey the Port conducted for the last plan update, the current unavailability of affordable land inside the Port District’s boundaries for that project is what has forced the change in position.
Also on the agenda is the development of Sweetwater Park in Belfair, which was stalled due to an inability to gain clear title to the property — a hurdle that has since been overcome. This will be a joint project of the Salmon Center and the Port. This project garnered the most discussion from the public.
Other projects include the development of an indoor shooting range — possibly as part of the proposed business park — and the construction of a staging area for the Allyn Boat Launch. The staging area project is being funded by a grant from the State Recreational and Conservation Office (RCO), and was contingent on the acquisition of the Ogren property, which is situated directly across from the launch ramp.
Action approving the plan is scheduled for a special meeting at 6 PM on February 26th.
CORRECTION: The above note about a special meeting on February 26th was made in error by MasonWebTV.com. Action on the plan is scheduled for the next Port of Allyn Commission’s regular meeting on March 2, 2020.
