SHS Girls Win; Losses for SHS Boys & Both NM Teams

The Shelton girls’ basketball team wrapped up the regular season Thursday with a 69 to 54 win over Central Kitsap on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.

The Lady Highclimbers started to pull away from the Lady Cougars in the second quarter, leading by 14 points at one point after the three-pointers started to fall.

In the third quarter, Shelton lead by as many as 15 and pushed that to 16 in the fourth. Central Kitsap could only cut the lead to eight points.

As a team, the Highclimbers hit 12 three-pointers with Taya Gouley accounting for half those long balls finishing with 24 points. Jayde Smith hit five three’s for 15 points.

The Cougars got 13 points from Jada Kopp; 12 from Lecia Sincere; and 11 from Charlize Katz.

Shelton finished the season 6-and-14 overall, 4-and-10 in the South Sound Conferenc, sixth in the standings.

The Shelton boys’ basketball team lost their season finale at Central Kitsap Thursday 61 to 54. The Highclimbers finish with a 7-and-13 overall record, 5-and-9 in the SSC, also sixth in the standings.

The North Mason girls’ basketball team ended the regular season with a 60 to 40 loss at North Kitsap. The Lady Bulldogs 9-and-10 on the season, 5-and-7 in the Olympic League. The girls from Belfair are tied with Kingston for fourth place in the standings and the final spot in the West Central District Tournament.

The North Mason boys’ basketball team wrapped up the season with an 80 to 47 loss at North Kitsap Thursday. The Bulldogs are 4-and-16 on the season, 1-and-11 in the Olympic League.

On Wednesday, the Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team couldn’t overcome a four-point first quarter and the five-point third quarter and dropped their final regular season game at North River 50 to 37. The Owls are 9-and-10 on the season, 7-and-3 in the Class 1B Coastal League, a half game ahead of the Mustangs in the standings. The boys from Matlock are currently in second the standings.
